What's the best ride you've done in Asia?
How long, what countries and when did you do it?
What made it the best and why should I do it?
I am looking for something challenging, 6-10 weeks and a bit quirky. What are your best rides?

hi Paullo, It all depends on what you are looking for. soemtime what I feel best, is simply not your cup of tea. If its the open sea and beautiful deserted beaches, then I would recomemnd you the east coast of Malaysia. It runs from Kota tinggi in the souhtern state of Johor till Bachok in Kelantan in the far north. That can be achieved nicely in 2 weeks. Safe roads, and relatively wide sidelanes for bicycles. The scenery are breadthtakaing at certain areas, especially the coastal line of terenggau. Nice food and friendly people. Somehow, people are more receptive to tourist on bicycles, its a great way to learn cultures as cyslists pose no danger or threats to anyone or the environment. After Kuala Terengganu, stick to the smaller coastal roads for exceptional sceneries, almost deserted roads, palms tress along the way and the winds keeping you cool. All on flat country and some easy grades.
Then you cut accross the central range from Kota baru to westcoast of Malaysia into Penang. A hilly country with lush green tropical forest. Some challenge here as the grades are harder, but not treacherous though. Midway, up on the mountains, there is a big lake, the temenggor lake and you may put up a night here on floating rooms. You may even hire a boat to see the dense jungle islands, and if lucky you may see swimming elephants. These are wild elephats that swim across the islands for food.
After Penang, heads on north to Perlis and into Wang Kelian or Padang besar to get into thailand. It is not recomemnded to get into thailand from Kelantan (east coast of Malaysia) as there are some troubles in south Thailand state of narathiwat and pattani.
Your tour of thailand starts from Satul and you move north, Pak bara, Pak Meng beaches, into trang and into the island of Koh Lanta. Beautiful laid back island. Needs a couple of days stay here for full enjoyment. You may hire boats for island hopping. The murakut Island Pirate cave is a must visit. You need to swim from the boat into a natural tunnel to get to the shore of a very secretive island.
After Koh Lanta , heads back to the mainland and travelled towrds Krabi. The famous Ao Nang, Ao Phra Nang and Ao Railey beaches are fascinationg. But a large umber of western tourists here. From Krabi, heads tpwards Phangga, and into phuket. you may finish this journey by 10 weeks.
