I am wondering about the roads in Cambodia. I am planning a cycle tour in July and hera some bad things about the roads. Has anyone got any information about the road between Phnom Penh and the Laos border via Stung Treng?
I also hear the road is in pretty bad shape between Siem Reap and Poipet, what's the scope?
Thanks guys

I took the road from Siem Reap to Poipet a few weeks ago (via share taxi, not cycling), and the road seemed to be in fair condition. Granted, there hadn't been much rain at that time. There were several detours, but none of the legendary car-enveloping puddles or any of the other lore. Keep an eye on the weather, if conditions are dry, it won't be half as bad as they say on most message boards or in Siem Reap pubs.

The road is in a better shape than it ever has, they haven't finished the surfacing yet but it is definitely better than it has ever been. I was there a couple of weeks back and it was a good experience. The dust will still be an issue but the preperation work for the road sealing has made the entire stretch quite good.
